May 27th – RPS ZOOM Workshop: Developing your Mono Vision
£100.00
Learn to see the world in new way with Simon Ellingworth’s complete black and white photography philosophy delivered by zoom over 3 x consecutive weeks with projects to shoot and feedback in the latter week.
Description
Understand what makes a great black and white image, how to do this in camera, practice your new skills with assignments and get personal feedback from an award winning photographer.
Recommended prior knowledge
This workshop is suitable for photographers at any skill and experience level.
Course Outline
This workshop runs for three consecutive weeks 18:00 – 20:00
Session 1 – 27/05/25
In the first session we will discuss what black and white photography achieves for photographers, what makes a powerful mono image, and we’ll discuss a range of images from genres including portraiture, landscape, street, etc.
Session 2 – 10/06/25
Simon will share with you a simplified and powerful workflow that will help you capture strong black and white images, and we will explore how to spot opportunities and best use light.
During this week or weekend, you’ll ideally go out and practice your new found skills so that you can upload your favourite 5 x images before the following session. (If you cannot get out, you may present older images, but this will reduce the overall learning as you will not have practiced your new skills.)
Session 3 – 24/06/25
This session will be dedicated to providing feedback on up to 5 x images from your shoot.
Outcomes
By the end of this course your black and white photography would have improved based on feedback and practice. You will be able to photograph subjects in black and white with confidence and develop your own practice through acquired skills and ideas.
