Each week you will be introduced to concepts, techniques and compositional influencers to help develop your vision.

This practical and hands-on zoom based workshop split into 6 weekly sessions is a foundation to equip you with understanding, knowledge and practical skills to be able to shoot compelling street photography.

 

Each week you will be introduced to concepts, techniques and compositional influencers to help develop your vision.

 

To embed the learning, you’ll be given an assignment to find the very strongest image from other photographers’ work to illustrate these and these images will be uploaded and discussed at the start of the next session. Whilst you will be given various resources and places to find outstanding street photography you can select images from any photographer globally.

 

It is a the idea foundation to process to Artist Development 1, 2, & 3 which explores the work of various photographers, sets you bi-monthly projects and provides a feedback mechanism for that work.

 

Recommended prior knowledge

This workshop has been designed to be suitable for all photographers from beginners to experts. Instead of looking at your own personal work, the weekly image assignments will ask you to find the best examples of concepts and techniques from leading street photographers around the world.

About the Tutor:

I’m Simon Ellingworth a full time photography educator & one to one mentor, with over a decades experience creating and delivering eduction for The Royal Photographic Society, I  specialise in street, black and white photograph, composition, gestalt theory available light portraiture.

With over 26 x International photography awards including 6 x ‘Mono Vision Awards’, 3 x ‘Monochrome Awards’, 3 x ‘Sony Awards’ and most recently, 1st place in the highly contested ‘2024 International Photography Awards’ in the professional category; selected from 14,000 entries from more than 100 countries.

During my workshops I like to challenge people’s thinking, change the way they see the world, and provide technical liberation from their camera with simple new ways and techniques to craft compelling images through a lens.

RPS Cancellation Policy

Please inform us as soon as possible if you are unable to attend a course as it is not possible to refund any cancellation or transfer to another workshop less than 14 days prior to course start date. The Society reserves the right to cancel a workshop 7 days prior to its start date – please check your hotel and travel cancellation policy as this may be affected.
