This workshop consists of inspiring education and 8 imaginative and executable project briefs shot over a 16 week period with constructive, insightful feedback on each project.

Equipped with the skills from the Developing Your Mono Vision or Mono Vision: Creative Challenge Level 1 workshop, it’s time to embark on a creative journey designed to push your expectations, skills, and ability. This interactive zoom workshop consists of 6 x 2-hour sessions with 5 x shooting challenges with personalised feedback, over a 11-week period.

This workshop is not genre specific.

Course Outline

Sessions run every other week, 18:00 – 20:00

Session 1 – Jan 14th

Session 2 – Jan 28th

Session 3 – Feb 11th

Session 4 – Feb 25th

Session 5 – Mar 11th

Session 6 – Mar 25th

During the workshop, we will look at the works of several incredible mono pioneers and innovators to inspire you. There will also be a mono editing challenge with an editing brief and raw files provided using a free trial version of Silver Efex Pro 3 available to download here.

Each session will be an opportunity to show images shot since the last workshop for review.

About the Tutor:

Simon Ellingworth is a full time photography educator & mentor, who specialises in street, available light portraiture, composition, gestalt theory and black & white photography.

He’s won 23 x International photography awards including 4 x ‘Mono Vision Awards’, 3 x ‘Sony Awards’ and most recently, 1st place in the highly contested ‘2024 International Photography Awards’ in the professional category; selected from 14,000 entries from more than 100 countries. He was a finalist in the ‘International iPhone Photography Awards‘, ‘Mobile Photography Awards‘ & ‘Professional Photographer of the Year‘, previously runner up in ‘Professional Photographer of the Year‘.

Simon is a passionate educator, a lover of simplicity on both gear and technique and welcomes photographs of all abilities and with cameras from iPhones, mirrorless to DSLRs. He is super welcoming, inclusive and very enthusiastic.

Persons under the age of 16 are welcome to attend events but, to conform with UK law, must be accompanied by a parent, guardian or responsible adult.

RPS Cancellation Policy

Please inform us as soon as possible if you are unable to attend a course as it is not possible to refund any cancellation or transfer to another workshop less than 14 days prior to course start date. The Society reserves the right to cancel a workshop 7 days prior to its start date – please check your hotel and travel cancellation policy as this may be affected.
